How To Swing A Golf Club

When learning to play golf it is most important to learn how to swing a golf club. If this is done properly from the first, it will instill good habits and make you a better player in the long run. The golf swing doesn't come naturally, but practice will eventually make it natural.

The grip of the club is very important. Your hands are the only part of your body that touches the equipment. A firm but flexible grip is important regardless of which one of the three major grips you choose. Be sure your head doesn't stay down, but follows through with your swing. There are three swings that can be used in golf: the back swing, the down swing, and the impact and follow through. By improving these swings, an individual will improve his/her game overall.

For the back swing you need to concentrate on the body rotation and club and arm extension. The back swing is a one-piece motion that should be smooth and fluid. You must remember to keep your front elbow straight. The down swing should start in the legs and hips, your knees and thighs should all begin moving forward and your body should be like a snake uncoiling. For the impact, the arm and club shaft should form a straight line. Most of your weight should be on the outside of the forward heel and the inside of the rear foot. Hands, wrist and forearms should rotate so the grip end of the club points towards the target.

When learning the swing in golf, try to be consistent. practice your swing on a daily basis, but don't take it too seriously. It could spoil your swing, as well as your game. After all, that's why you're playing - to have fun with it. The bottom line is that it is just a game.
